We mow about 15 acres of uneven pasture (no real hills) with an old JD and a 48" bush hog in upstate NY. We now are looking at replacing it with a Kubota (with the loader for light work)and wonder if the BX2350 will do the job; or do we need something larger. Is "running hot" or clearance a concern? Is something more in the "compact" range needed? If so, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Many of the small compacts have exposed fans underneath that make them poorly suited for bush hogging. I think the BX2350 does, too, but don't know that for certain. Something to look at though. ....

In my opinion the BX is to small for brush mowing 15 acres.
Something closer to 30 HP and at least a 5' cutter would be much better. ....

I agree with all the prior posts! I'd be looking bigger! I only recommend them for up to ten acres of near totally develped property.
I'd like to see a larger chassis tractor like a three range B-series or a small L series. ....

Thanks for the quick replies. Would the B2630 still be too small? If so, which of the B-series or L-series would you recommend? If it makes a difference, we don't mow more than 3-5 acres at a time. The pasture can be anywhere from 8-10" grass to 2-3' grass/weeds, depending on rotation or time of year, all fairly thick. ....

I mow 22 ac. three times a year for my church. I have a 7510 60" mmm. and it gets old after one complete cut. The high weeds with the mmm is worse than grass. In low range it takes about 40 hours for 22ac. Ringing ears, sore backs, head aches are the norm. A 2230 will do it though. If I had to do it all over again I would have gotten the 7800 so the extra 9 horse would let me keep it in high range. A 2630 would be nice with the extra 6 horse. I still think I might take the dive and trade for the 7800, but another 7-8 grand? It comes down to your pocket book and time available, but the 2230 will do it. ....

Mowing through those tall weeds would be a pain in a small tractor. I bought my 2910 with the intention of being able to use it (when and if the Chalmers bit the dust) to rotary cut my fields as I like being as high above the pollen as possible.
In fact, I have given some thought to using a sickle bar to eliminate having to drive through the stuff. ....

The 2630 is one of the larger chassis B-series I'd recommend for the job. The B-7800 is the basic tractor in the group with the 3030 being the largest. ....
